Heavy rainfall in some places, weather to remain cloudy tonight

Kathmandu, May 12: Heavy rainfall has taken place in some places across the country on today. According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, heavy rainfall has fallen in some places of Gulmi, Syangja and Kavrepalanchowk districts. Gulmi received 56.4 millimeter of rain fall today followed by 53 millimeter in Syangja, informed meteorologist Rojan Lamichhane. Similarly, Kavrepalanchowk recorded 39.6 millimeter rainfall, said Lamichhane, adding that some places in Panauti in the district witnessed flood. Rainfall has been reported in some hilly parts of Bagmati, Lumbini and Karnali Provinces in the last one hour. French citizen dies while scaling Mt Kanchanjungha

Taplejung, May 12: A French citizen died in course of climbing Kanchanjungha Mountain. The deceased has been identified as 63-year-old Margeta Moring. The Kanchanjungha is the third highest mountain in the world standing 8,586 meters tall. Moring and his friend had obtained permission to scale the mountain from the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation. Both of them had started climbing the mountain from the south at Sirijungha rural municipality-8 on May 9 and reached around 8,000 meters above at 11:00 pm on May 10. The French citizen died after suffering from respiratory problem, said Yogendra Tamang, a tourist guide who was accompanying him.

More than 100 people taken ill after attending wedding reception

Janakpur, May 12: At least 100 people were taken ill after attending a wedding reception at Thera Kachuri in Mithila Bihari Municipality-8, Dhanusha district on Sunday evening. The attendants of the wedding ceremony had reached Thera Kachuri from Bindhi of Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City-23 and were taken ill after the dinner hosted on the occasion.
